He was content, 'till the Lord presented him with Eve.  I do believe!
 
If only Adam Hadn't Eaten That Apple,
If only Eve had not made Adam take that bite. 
Then there wouldn't be a me, and there wouldn't be a you,
and I wouldn't be so blue to-night. 
 
If only Eve would not have talked to that serpent,
If only Adam had the brains to see the light. 
They would be in Eden yet, and we two would not have met,
and I wouldn't set 'n' fret to night.
 
Just because a million years ago, a woman tempted a man.
Just because he couldn't tell her "no," all the troubles in the world began! 
 
If Only Adam Hadn't Eaten That Apple,
If only he had said "The Lord said it ain't right."
There would be no you no me, there would be no misery,
If Adam hadn't taken that bite,
Then I wouldn't be so blue to night.
