I happened upon Tanner's Falls during a photography outing in 1993, and immediately developed a fascination for the site. I've always been attracted to ruins, and was amazed at the number of old foundations that crisscrossed the valley just north of the falls. Based on the condition, and the total absence of any wooden structural remains, I concluded that the site had to have been abandoned for at least a hundred years. I was, therefore, astonished to learn that it had been operational as late as the 1940s! I initially theorized that perhaps the fire at the acid factory released caustic materials that destroyed the organic remains, but that could not explain the condition of the buildings upstream of what I assume is the side of the factories. In any case, based on the photos I was able to obtain, with a healthy dose of imagination added, I used Tanner's Falls as the setting for several of my books and stories. The links to the left point to the actual history of the site, as well as some photos. If anyone has more info or pictures I'd appreciate hearing about them.
