Artist Profile:

I started painting seriously in 1992, and turned out several dozen works in the space of 6 months or so. My first attempt, Spiral Staircase, found its way into the Springfield Museum of Fine Art, where it took the 'Twig Painter's' award & was featured in that year's Springfield Art League's catalog. My second, The Peat Bog, did a stint at the Mari Gallery in Mamaroneck, NY.

All of my paintings are completely hand painted in the traditional manner, using the highest quality materials, however, my approach is unique in that I fully exploit the power of digital technology to explore compositional components and work out much of the preliminary layouts.  Actually, I consider this an essentially traditional approach.   In the renaissance period, master painters employed apprentices to prepare materials, paint backgrounds, and in some instances, complete every aspect of the work except for the final signature.  In this sense, my computer is my apprentice, who helps me to be more productive while still ensuring that the entire creative process is uniquely my own.

One result of this approach is that it allows me to work with clients to produce custom art works to their specifications.  From size, to color scheme, to subject matter, I work with my clients through a succession of digital approximations until we both understand precisely what you're looking for.  Thus, we become partners in the creative process, and the result is a unique, hand-painted work of art that is as much your creation as mine.
